Our aim is to create a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe based on the Mediterranean’s historical rural manor houses, which are known as “possessions” in Mallorca. Citizen participation, promotion and sustainable cultural tourism are to be the driving forces behind it.
The ITINEREM project
Short-term actions to undertake
The launch of a citizen participation programme that is to involve children, adults and older residents: The aim of this programme, which is geared towards the residents of Mallorca, is to foster cultural education and to promote the values that historically define us as a rural society.
A campaign to promote the participation of possession owners, professionals, companies and councils in the project: The aim of this action is to foster, among the residents of Mallorca, the idea that our possessions are our main tangible and intangible heritage asset.
The creation of a joint package offering cultural tourism products and services: We will include contact experiences between the tourists who visit us and local residents (agricultural and livestock farming workshops, activities relating to traditional culture and gastronomic activities, etc.).
Medium- and long-term actions to undertake
In the medium and long term, the project will be undertaken in other Mediterranean regions. That is why we have formalised collaboration agreements with the following organisations: 5-Senses (Malta), ARKELLIA (France), the City Council of Rhodes (Greece) and InMedia (Italy).
